MW - LOL (lesson on line) Assignment _13 and _14

Welcome back class. I hope you enjoyed your time off and for some of you, you trips.
Your assignments, notice the plural, were do (assignment 13) hand portraits and (assignment 14) fall pictures.
Let's address each one separately.
Assignment _13 Hand portraits.
I would like to see these in black and white only. You should have at least 10 shots and hopefully more. I am going to look at lighting, content and how you display these photos. I would like you to put them on your website with description and explainations of the assignment, a little about the person who you used as a hand model and why you used them. With your 'best' photo, please provide me with a high resolution (300 dpi) 8"x12" photo. Remember to size down - not up.
Assignment _14 Fall Pictures.
For those of you that went on a trip or activity, etc, please make a photoshop photo gallery, make a link from your home page. Make a journal entry on your home page about your break time and what you did. If you have a specific photo that will look good enlarged to 8" x 12", prepare it as mentioned above.
These 2 assignments are due by class end on Wednesday. Use your time wisely. Make your webpages nice and display your photos well.
Place the website in the 'website' folder. Place your prints in the 'prints' folder.
If you did not do the above assignments, please take the time on both Monday and Wednesday to complete an essay on 'Why I didn't do my assignments and how it will impact my grade, my life.' Make sure it is at least 4 pages long, double spaced, 12pt type. Completing this will get you a D.
You should also have a new gallery on your website all about your friends, the candid photos that you took. Make sure this is also on your website.
Please do not ask to 'go take photos'. These 2 days will be labwork. When you complete your assignments, you may work on other class assignments or work on your computer quietly.

Holy Smokes! technical snafu!
Mrs. Kenny, I apologize for the lack of instructions yesterday. There was a technical snafu!
Your assignment today is to take 10 pictures of things with writing on them. Mrs. Kenney will accompany you up to main street. You may go 1 block east and west of Center street. Cross the street only in marked crosswalks. Be back in the classroom by 9:10.
Crop the photos to 6" x 4" 225 dpi. Use different filters on each of the pictures. Put your name on the front of them. Save them in a file on your computer and turn them in on Wednesday.

Continuing with our basics...
We will review the group photos, the silhouettes and how cameras use light.
Reshoots as needed. New assignment topic is shiney things. These will be black and white, 5" x 7" dpi .jpg, with your name on the front of the photo. Save them appropriately and place them in the applicable folder.
Photoshop instruction: clone tool, selection tool, type tool.

Hello Scholars and welcome back! How was your weekend? If you have any pictures of events over the weekend that you took, please write a small report in notepad and submit both the pictures and the report to me by putting them into the file called reports.
Today, please make sure that both assignments 01 and 02 are complete and turned in.
First, I would like you to get to know others by going in the groups that I assign and shoot a 'group' photo in color. This can 1 person shooting the other 3 or set your camera on timer so all of you can be in the picture. I want you to try different group poses. Save these photos as 03_number of group_01-0? Learn the names of all the people in your group.
Second, I would like each of you to shoot 5 photos that show silouettes. There might be a setting on your camera for this. If not, just experiment with the exposure to make it a silhouette. This will be assignment 03. Save 5" x 7" 72dpi into folder 03 using the correct file syntax.
Silhouettes can be taken at the MAC. Group photos can be taken here at school or at the MAC.

Continuing with our introduction to camera basics.
I would like you to go to the Mesa Arts Center and shoot 10 photos of 5 things that show texture and/or contrast. With each 'thing' I want you to take a picture of the same thing twice from different angles. Be aware of shadows, lights and texture.
Import each photo into photoshop, make them black and white, 5" x 7" 72dpi. Each photo should be saved as sampled.... 02_last_first_01a, 02_last_first_01b.
Please write a notepad text file that explains what you think the following terms mean: ISO, depth of field, shutter speed and color temperature. Save this file as 02_last_first_06.
Please try and have these all in the folder MW_02 by 9:20. This will enable us to view some of the photos and talk about them.

Your assignment today is to shoot 5 pictures of your anything you think is interesting or would make an interesting photo. Open them in PhotoShop, change them to black and white, adjust the levels if needed, retouch, Change the size to 5" x 7" 72dpi. 'save as' each picture in the following format. Put these in the folder called '01'.
(The assignment number is first with _01, 02, 03, etc.)
01_LastName, FirstName_01
(these last 2 digit are for the image number. The next file will be _02, _03, etc.)
Class instruction and discussion... then reshoot the 5 photos and follow the same instructions with one addition. Please open 'notebook' and type a paragraph on why you shot the photos that you did and why you thought they were interesting. Include this text file with the photos that you put in my folder and call the text file 01_LastName_FirstName_06.
